Enduring Food – Punjabi By Nature

Punjabi By Nature is a family run business since 1998 when it first opened an outlet in Noida. The brand expanded over the last few years to Delhi, Bangalore and Gurgaon. The outlet in Bengaluru are located in Koramangala, Whitefield and Indiranagar. Got a chance to be part of the wine pairing event at Punjabi By Nature, Koramangala. The outlet is located only next to Christ College and steps away from Forum Mall.

The outlet is huge in size and most of it has open seating arrangements. The place also has a microbrewery and crafts few beers like the Wheat beer, American Pale Ale, Green Apple Ale and Pilsner Lager. We sampled each of these, but I am not a beer fan! Also tried in house drinks like the Virgin Mojito and the Mango Margarita Twist. The Mango Margarita Twist was surprisingly delicious with the twist from Chat Masala.

Punjabi By Nature is famous for its Punjabi food especially the appetizers. We tried the Tandoori Phool, Veg Galouti Kebab and Dahi Ke Kebab. The Tandoori Phool had cauliflower and broccoli in spicy marinate. The Veg Galouti were milder in taste but the texture was really smooth. The Dahi Ke Kebab were exceptional in taste. Do try them. We also sampled few Fratelli Wines in between and learned how it could be paired with Indian Food.

For the main course we had the Dal Makhani and the Paneer Makhani along with breads like Garlic Naan and Tandoori Roti. The Dal Makhani was creamy in taste, but the Paneer Makhani was out of the world. The Paneer were very delicate and the tomato gravy was flavorsome with a creamy finish to it. The night ended with the Flambeed Gulab Jamun and the Jalebi with Rabi Combo. The Jalebi’s were so-so in taste but the rabri was fantastic. The Flambeed Gulab Jamun where poured with rum on top and then lit to flames. The Jamun’s were soft and just melted in the mouth.

But when it comes to service and hospitality Punjabi By Nature falls on its knees. The staff were not able to manage the crowd. The food didn’t reach the right tables and the staff had no clue what was really happening. Sometimes there were too many staff members on the floor and sometimes none. Plans were being made until the last minute when it should have been made quite early. Very disappointed with the service and hospitality of the staff at this place.

Punjabi by Nature – Scorecard –

Food/Taste – 8/10
Service/Hospitality – 4/10
Value for Money – 7/10
Ambiance – 7/10

The food is enduring but the hospitality left a vacuum.
