Punjab Connection at ‘The Punjabi Rasoi’
The Punjabi Rasoi is a famous outlet for North Indian Punjabi Cuisine. The outlet is located in HSR Layout close to the Outer Ring road. Because of holidays most of the staff members were not present which made the service too slow. We had to wait for 20mins to even get in. The decor is very simple with wooden chairs and table. The table was not cleaned when we were seated and had to remind the staff 2-3 times to clean it. Finally we made the order and it took another 15mins to get the food.
The Tomato Cream Soup was a bit on the sweet side but the bread pieces were fried in oil which left a bad taste. The soup was good though and was decorated with fresh cream. Next we tried the seasonal favorite, Makai Ki Roti and Sarsoon Ka Saag. The preparation of the Makai ki Roti was different than other place I have tried. It had a strong taste of ajwain or Carom Seeds. The Makai Ki Roti were brushed with butter. The Sarsoon Ka Saag was also good in taste. The Sarsoon Ka Saag and Makai Ki Roti was much better than rest of the food and is highly recommended here.
For the main course we ordered the Kaju Masala and the Paneer Hyderabadi with Butter Roti. The Kaju Masala was great but the Paneer Hyderabadi being a spicy gravy was not at all spicy and was sweet on the other hand. The Kaju Masala was served with butter on top. While the Paneer Hyderabadi with fresh coriander. The combination of Roti with the gravies was delicious along with the pickled onions.
The service was bad with a lack of staff on the floor. There were only 3 staff for the entire place which is way too less by any standards. The value for money for the food is not high considering all the factors.
Good food, bad service!
