The Global desi Adda – Glocal
Glocal introduces a new age of restaurant which has global dishes but with a local touch. Situated on the 12th Main in Indiranagar, Bangalore, the outlet is huge. Being the third outlet in line in India after Mumbai and Hyderabad, Glocal is spread over 2 floors the outlet boasts of quirky ambiance with rustic finish to the walls. The open kitchen lets you connect with your food while the chef creates its magic. Glocal gives you a sense of being in your favorite ‘ adda ’ and enjoy with your friends and families.
The menu has been specially crafted with different menus one for the day and another for the night. Glocal is an all-day dinning destination right from breakfast to dinner. Emphasis has been given on the presentation of the dishes and drinks. Their bar menu is no different and has a global influence with the use of local ingredients. The seating arrangement is also simple.
We tried a number of drinks from the menu including Black Magic, Infused Jar, Mirage, Bouquet, Coalition, Thailee, Toxic Box and Long Island Ice Tea. Each of the drinks are infused with a number of flavors. The presentation is extra-ordinary right from a Pineapple shaped jar for Mirage to a piped shape from Bouquet. Some of the drinks I loved are the Black Magic, Thaliee and the Toxic Box.
We kicked off the day with the Grilled Potato Skin – a dish made with grilled jacket potatoes with a creamy cheesy stuffing inside and a spicy corn cob to compliment. The Grilled Paneer in Peri Peri Sauce was made from soft pieces of panner along with onions and bell peppers tossed with the sweet as well as spicy Peri Peri sauce. The Grilled Paneer in Chimichuri Sauce was similar except that the cubes were tossed in Chimichuri sauce. The Egg Bun Pao was one of the most exciting dishes, the pao was super soft and just melted in the mouth.
Next we had the Falafel Pocket, an amazing dish keeping in mind that the falafel were soft from inside and the pita pocket had the right amount of filling. Next we tried the Chaat Pizza, though the dish is made on a pizza bread the taste is exactly like a chaat, what an innovation when two of your favorite foods come together. The Arab Ki Thali has dips like Muhammara, Hummus and Babaganoush and served with Lavash and Pita. Here is another dish that is just fusion of global and local flavors, the Makhani Risotto, rice made in a silky smooth makhani sauce. The Fusion Khaosuey is no different but the subtle taste of the coconut will mesmerize. Don’t forget to try it!
After having so many exciting dishes we couldn’t wait to try the desserts. First we had the Masala Chai Pannacotta, who would have imagined a masala chai Pannacotta, which Glocal has it and it’s delicious. The Baked Filter Kafi was a similar dish, if you love coffee you would love this dish. The Kalkatta Paan Cheese Cake was again an innovative dish with a cheese cake filling inside the Kolkata Paan. Lastly we had the Beeramisu, a rare combination of your favourite drink in this Italian classic.
Glocal has the rare combination of fusion between global dishes with desi touch.
