Mexifornia Festival at California Pizza Kitchen
California Pizza Kitchen launched the ‘Mexifornia’ festival from the 13th June until 17th July. The festival is all set to have the Mexican food twist in appetizers and main course with Californian taste in the drinks. The menu for the Mexifornia festival is quite unique right from the starters to the desserts. To try the food we went to their Indiranagar outlet located on the 100 feet road, Bangalore / Bengaluru . The outlet was huge with sitting in 2 floors and has decent seating arrangements.
We tried out the drinks like Guava Margarita, Lychee and Cranberry Margarita and the Peach and Apricot Margarita. Each of the drinks had unique flavors to offer. Really liked all of them since they were perfect when it comes to the sweetness. The drinks were made with the pulp of each of the fruits with lime and ice. The Guava Margarita was one of the favorites. The drinks go really well with the appetizers.
We tried the Mexican Bean Fritters and the Avocado Creamy Pasta. The Bean fritters were made by deep frying the Bean Fritters and serving them on a bed of Ranchito sauce. The fritters were subtle in taste and could have been better with the addition of condiments. Next we tried the Avocado Creamy Penne Pasta, the sauce was made Avocado and roasted garlic tomato sauce. The taste of the roasted garlic came out really well. The pasta was served with garlic bread.
We couldn’t wait to try the Pizza’s at California Pizza Kitchen and see the fusion between Italian and Mexican flavors. First we had the Mexican Veggie Pizza, a thin crust pizza with spicy bean sauce and topped with onions, peppers, tomatoes, jalapenos and cheddar cheese. This pizza was really spicy and is a must try! The fusion of flavors on this Mexican food came out really well. Next came the Tex Mex Pizza, a thin crust pizza with Spicy Bean sauce, corn, beans, red pepper, Mexican chilly, topped with crispy tortilla. The Pizza was not spicy and tasted like a typical Mexican food dish.
The desserts in the Mexifornia Menu are new as well as innovative like the Apple Taquitos, the Sapota Mousse Cake, the Tequila Lime baked Cheesecake and the Mexican Chocolate Cake. The Apple Taquitos are deep-fried with cinnamon spiced apple filling inside, the dessert is then drizzled with chocolate fudge and pecan nuts and is served with a scoop of icecream. The filling was amazing and it just melted in the mouth. Next we had the Sapota Mousse Cake which is made on a layer of chocolate cake with rich creamy topping and is served with Caramel Sauce. Delicious and the taste of sapota came out so well.
The Tequila Lime Baked Cheesecake was a classic baked cheesecake blended with tequila and lime flavors and is served with drizzle of fresh cream, honey and lime sauce. The cheesecake was heavy but the taste of lime was pre-dominant. The taste of a spoonful of the dessert along with fresh cream was fantastic. Lastly we had the Mexican Chocolate Cake, which is a thick chocolate cake made with Mexican spices and served with chocolate sauce. The cake was very heavy and the subtle taste of spices would take you away!
Overall the Mexifornia festival turned out to be a great experience with the amalgamation of flavors from Mexico and California.
