The Pot of Life

Late Saturday evening , or was it early Sunday morning, I don’t remember. With 2 friends and a night out things can be out of control. After enjoying the dandiya nights (one of my wishes) we decided to stay at our friends place.

The night-out started with Joke session. I never knew those jokes ever existed, we laughed until our stomach ached and we didn’t have place for any more. I have a problem, i cannot remember jokes. Yes it’s true. Otherwise I would have illustrated few here and there.

Suddenly there was a silence. Things become serious. One of my friends started discussion on ‘Life’. We discussed that all the important things in life like completing studies, success, marriage, family etc are like big stones. The pot of life should be filled with these stones first as they are the most important things in our life. There is a limit to the number of stones in the pot. We cannot have unlimited happiness which is to the power of infinity.

The minor things like promotion, festivals, day-today work, are temporary happiness and are like pebbles. The pot can take them in abundance. There is no limit to these pebbles in the pot. These happiness are bound to come no matter what happens. We agreed.

Failures are the stone which takes most of the pot. Slowly and steadily we need to displace them with success.

(Note: – Thanks to Gaurav and Prabhakar for that wonderful evening filled with fun ,laughter, eye-opening truths)
