As we made ourselves comfortable, we were greeted with 2 mocktails made with Imli and Jamun. The taste of both these drinks was fantastic, little tangy and sweet at the same time. We even tried the Fantastic Four. Made by combining juices of Lichi, Mango, Cranberry and Orange, it was refreshing to the max.

The new menu of Saffron combines some of the best sellers and mouthwatering dishes like the Pani Puri which comes with a variety of colored water The combo is simply fantastic and you can taste almost 4 types of flavored water taken as shots. The Dahi Bhalla’s comes in small cups topped with curd, mint and sweet jaggery chutney. But the Cocktail Samosa were the real deal. These fried savory pastry stuffed with potatoes, peas, cashew and served with sweet chutney. Unbelievable with the overall taste of the dish, a must try!

On the other hand, we had plenty of kebabs and chaats to try. The Aloo aur Shakarkandi Ki Chaat is a tangy, spices combination which takes you straight to the streets of Delhi. The Dahi Ke Kebab had flavorful hung curd with light spices. But the Gimikand Ki Galouti stood out among all. The patties are made with yam and selected Indian spices. The flavor of the smoky tandoor had sipped deep inside the patties. Loved the smoky patties, awesome! Next, came the Palak aur Akhrot Kebab made with sautéed minced spinach, potato, walnut and char grilled in tandoor. The Aloo Dal Tikki were deep fried crispy potatoes and lentil patties, a unique combination. Lastly the Paneer ke Seekh made with minced cottage cheese with pine nuts over skewers served with green chutney, delicious!

We hardly had room after trying so many appetizers, but, we couldn’t resist to try some of the best curries at Saffron. The Paneer Makhani made with soft pieces of paneer cooked in creamy and rich tomato gravy. It was buttery and creamy. The Aloo Baingan Shimla Mirch Salan had slow cooked potatoes, eggplant, bell peppers in spicy tangy tomato with cashew nut and peanut onion gravy. Don’t miss out on the Kofta Birbali, made with soft cottage cheese dumpling simmered in a rich spinach and tomato gravy. The flavors were spot on! The Gobhi Kadai Masala had a homely taste. We tried these curries with the Laccha Paratha and Kadak Roti. The laccha paratha was crisp and buttery. Lastly, we had the Tarkari Biryani made in saffron flavored basmati rice cooked with seasonal greens. Loved it, wish I had more appetite!

On the desserts side we tried the Rasmalai and the Kulfi Falooda. The rasmalai are cottage cheese dumplings cooked with saffron flavored milk and topped with dryfruits. The Kulfi Falooda is the Indian icecream made with reduced milk flavored with saffron and cardamom. The Kulfi was topped with vermicelli and rose syrup. Simply Indian!
