An Era to remember – The Old Fashioned Bar

Koramangala is now home to a new bar cum workspace specializing in craft cocktails – The Old Fashioned bar. Named after the famous classic cocktail – The Old Fashioned – this bar is set to bring home the memories of the classical 60’s. This place also runs a coffee shop and a workspace during the day. You can listen to classical rock to jazz here depending on the day of the week when many live bands take the stage. The ambiance is super lively and the seating is on sofa chairs.

The bar menu has a separate section dedicated to the old favorite – The Old Fashioned in around 10 different ways. We tried couple of them like the Cuban Old Fashioned, Tiramisu Old Fashioned and ofcourse the Classical 1881 Old Fashioned. While the Cuban had a hint of tobacco flavor in it, the Tiramisu had the Italian dessert feel. Each of these comes with a rock of ice which is also a pleasure to look at. We even tried the Roll Like Mike Jagger which is made with mango and tamarind jaggery shrub. It was just amazing!! All the cocktails are curated by Mr Balakrishnan who has successfully bought back the classical charms to the city.

When it comes to food, the Old Fashioned has plenty to please everyone. We tried the Mexicali Nachos, Chipotle Cottage Tandoor and the Achaari momo. The Mexicali Nachos was delicious as is made with jalapenos, kidney beans and sour cream. The Chipotle Cottage Tandoor comprises of large pieces of paneer marinated in chipotle sauce and grilled to perfection. It was lipsmacking good! The Achari Momos are grilled in tandoor and had stuffing of paneer and cabbage. Once you start eating this you just can stop!! Eat it to believe!! The food menu is very extensive and we explored more, like the Khumb Lazeez Tandoor and the Ghar ka Chakna. The Khumb Lazeer is a simple dish were mushrooms are grilled with Carom seeds and served with mayo. It is very light on the stomach and a perfect fit with cocktails.

The Ghar Ka Chakna, it paneer burji with tandoori roti. This is a true ghar ka khana, simple yet flavorful! We even tried their From the Farm Pizza. It was topped with peppers, olives, sundried tomatoes among others. To end the treat we had the Prohibition era dessert, a chocolate mousse with vanilla icecream. You can taste each of the layers from the mousse and the combo was a perfect end to our adventure into the 60’s.
