Majlis – The best of Arabian Food

Majlis is located in Kalyan Nagar with emphasis on Arabian and Indian cuisine. The area has been buzzing with new restaurants and is now considered one of the most happening places in Bangalore. The menu at Majlis is curated by none other than the legendary Chef Imtiaz Qureshi. Chef Imtiaz has been able to blend Arabian food as well as Indian dishes into one menu. The place is also famous for its Sheesha/Hookah offerings. The ambiance is lively with wooden décor and large sofa seating. The entire floor is based out of Arabian theme and pictures.

We tried the Paan and Green Apple Hookah and it was light and smooth. We also tried the Taj Mahal Ka Sherly Temple which is a mixer of ginger ale and fresh lime with dash of pomegranate juice, excellent in taste. Majlis has a variety of appetizers to go with so we decided to taste both the Arabian as well as Indian offerings. The Spinach Cheese Samosa were deep fried starters which just melted in the mouth. The Sunehari Khasta was another appetizer in spring roll format with mushrooms, vegetables and cheese, absolutely delicious. The Dahi ke Kebab were excellent, as it had hung curd spiced and rolled in soft bread and then deep fried.

If you are at Majlis the Mezzeh Platter should be on your must have list. The Platter is a combination of assorted Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Montabel, Fattoush and Tabbouleh along with Bread. The Hummas was of a velvety texture from freshly boiled chickpeas with Tahina sauce and Olive Oil. If you love Pizza then this Arabian Pizza called Naanza will be nothing less than surprising. This Lebanese pizza is topped with tomatoes, onion, capsicum, spinach, black olives, chili flakes, oregano, beetroot, French fries and olive oil.

Next we tried the main course with Kadai Vegetables and Lahsuni Palak Paneer. The Kadai Vegetables had mixed vegetables cooked with creamy masala gravy. But the Lahsuni Palak Paneer was fantastic with subtle taste of garlic. The Dal Qureshi is a family recipe perfect by Chef Qureshi over the years. These mixed Dals are cooked overnight in butter and garlic to give it a distinctive taste. These gravies are best tried with a unique bread called Naan-e-Bahumach or the Warqi Paratha. The Naan-e-Bahumach is a semolina bread but sprinkled with poppy seeds on top! Unique yet tasty. The Warqi Paratha is baked in tandoor with ajwan on top. Lastly we had the Vegetable Biryani, which was filled with fresh vegetables, golden fried onions and loaded of Kewra flavor. Served with a bowl of raita this is also a must have!

For desserts we tried the Ummali, it is a rich Arabic dessert topped with nuts but made with biscuits, milk and butter. The dessert didn’t satisfy my taste buds. But the Malai Phirnee had flavors in every bite. This pudding is made out of rice and milk with malai added it to, to enhance the experience.

Majlis lives true in providing the best Arabian food and decor experience. Each of dish on the menu is unique in itself. Thanks to the Manager here, Mr. Bapi who took care of all our needs. Majlis also takes care of indoor parties and outdoor catering.
