Where to get the best Punjabi food in Bangalore? – Made in Punjab

After the grand success of Farzi Cafe, ‘Made In Punjab’ recently opened it’s door in Bangalore with the focus on Punjabi Food. The ambiance at ‘Made In Punjab’ is modern with comfortable seating arrangements. The place is located right beside the Farzi Cafe in UB City, Bangalore / Bengaluru making it one of the most happening places around. The outlet has an ala-carte menu along with buffet to suit your needs with Punjabi beats and hit numbers in the background!

We order the Naya Zamana and the Cu-Cu Fizz cocktail as well as Minty Apple and Khatta Meetha mocktail. The Minty Apple was one of my favorites with chunks of green apple on top. The Khatta Meetha was an orange based along with a fruity syrup. The Naya Zamana is a whisky based while the CuCu Fizz is a gin based cocktail with flavors of cucumber. Made In Punjab gives you a chance to try some exotic drinks with unusual names.

For the appetizers we tried the Tokri Chaat. The tokri was made out of potato and was quite thick making it easy to hold the stuffing inside. The chaat was made with all sorts of condiment and it make things interesting chunks of fresh aam papad was added. The taste was exotic. Next came the Popeye Paaji ki favourite Chaat. This is a spinach based chaat with yogurt and mashed potato. Healthy as well as tasty. The Paneer Barrel Tikka are soft pieces of rolled paneer stuffed with dry fruits. The Broccoli Badaam is a complete piece of broccoli that is roasted in tandoor with badaam paste to make things silky smooth. Loved it! Next we tried the Dhaasu Aloo which are tossed in a garlic based mix and topped with sesame seeds. Not a big fan of sesame seeds on my food.

For the main course we tried the Lehsun Palak Chenna. This is truly an exotic dish with finely chopped spinach and garlic mixed so well with chenna or paneer. The dish is rich with the goodness of soft chenna, amazing! The Maa Ki Daal is another traditional makhani daal shimmered overnight in a low flame. The Daal was so smooth that it just melted in the mouth. The Paneer Lababdar was another paneer dish but with a different gravy. The paneer pieces were soft served in a rich tomato gravy, delicious! We tried these curries with different breads like Tandoori roti, lachha paratha and naan. I was truly amazing with the taste of the dishes at Made In Punjab.

If the main course wasn’t enough we got the chance to try some sumptuous desserts. The Ras Dates Malai is a date filled ras malai. The taste was rich and not overly sweet. Next we tried the Goushalla Di Kulfi, the taste of saffron and pistachio just fills your mouth. The kulfi was made in thick milk along with dry fruits and was one of the best I have every tried!

The dishes at ‘Made In Punjab’ draws its inspiration from Punjabi food but still keeps the amount of ghee, butter and milky fats to a minimum to cater to the health conscious Bangalore market. Kumud Rai and his team does an excellent job when it comes at exploring the simple flavors of this kind of food.
