Delicious and Economical – Sri Bhagya Grand

Sri Bhagya Grand opened only a few months back in Vijaya Bank Layout close to Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore and in a very short span of time has become one of the most crowded restaurants around. There is a lack of good veg eateries in this area which makes it a plus point for Sri Bhagya Grand. There are 2 menu’s here one for the self-service counter and the other for serviced part. They sells North Indian, South Indian and Chinese dishes. The range of food is simply fantastic from Pani Puri to Sandwiches, curries to biryani and noodles to dosa. It might be difficult to find a place during meal times especially during dinner service. Last time I had to wait for 20mins to get a table.

There is bench seating arrangements for the serviced area and stand and eat tables. The restaurant is of decent size but in peak hours it gets difficult to move around. Have been here a couple for time and enjoyed the food a lot. Loved their Paneer Dosa as it comes with a delicious filling of potato masala and paneer grated on top. The sambar and chutney here is amazing in taste. Which also makes the Idly and Vada a must try here! Have tried the Gobi Manchurian as well, but the Gobi was a bit for crunchy due to refrying. The amount was a bit less than expected, but this item is one of their best sellers. The Sev Puri was good but nothing outstanding.

Coming to the serviced area, the wooden tables are close by with little space to move. But the menu here is much more extensive and also contains all the items from the self-serviced area. The ordered are taken on the tablet. We had the Navratan Korma, Kadhai Paneer and Mushroom Masala for the main course. The Navratan Korma was out of the world, loved the taste as it was garnished with fruits like apple, pineapple, grapes, pomegranate and so on. The Kadhai Paneer was also good which large pieces of capsicum and onions. The Mushroom Masala was made from the same mushrooms used for Mushroom Manchurian and therefore where quite big in size from a thick outer covering of batter. The gravy of the Mushroom Masala was great in taste. We also ordered a variety of breads like the Akki Roti, Garlic Naan, Tandoori Roti and Kulcha. The Akki Roti was thick and could have been much better. The Garlic Naan didn’t have any butter on top, weird? But the Kulcha as well as the Tandoori roti were great and went very well with the gravies.

The Veg Pulao was not good, didn’t like the taste of it. The Veg Fried Rice, is good in taste but could have been better. Though the food has mixed reviews, the place still remain my favorite due to enormous menu, taste and cleanliness.
