Food inside a Jail – ‘Lockup’

Lockup takes you to the legendary Kala Paani Prison with good food. The outlet is on the back side of Vyapar Kendra in Sushant Lok, Gurgaon. The setting as well as ambiance is completely insync with prison look, right from the staff members to the air-conditioned. There are 6 tables packed inside with little room for movement.

Lookup concept might be unique for Gurgaon which gives it a slight edge. The outlet plays classical to modern Bollywood songs which makes the entire environment ‘filmi’. The staff members shut you inside the lockup once any food is served. Here are some of the food that we tried:-

Veg Manchow Soup – Diced Vegetable soup served with crispy Noodles. Good overall. 7/10

Masala Papad – Deep fried Masala Papad topped with onions, chilli, tomato and coriander. 7/10

Aam Paana – Raw Mango pulp with exotic spices like chili, cumin seeds and so on. Served in a unique glass bottle. 7/10

Fresh Lime Soda – Refreshing Lime Soda drink. Paradise in summers! 8/10

Lockup

Stuffed Tandoori Mushroom – Mushroom stuffed with khoya then grilled. The dish was finished with sprinkle of Chat Masala. Served with onions and green chutney. Great dish. 8/10

Dahi ke Kebab – Slightly sweet Dahi Ke Kebab, with flavor of cardamom and green chilli. Melts in the mouth and went really well with their cream cheese salad. Crispy from outside but soft inside. 8/10

Fried Rice – Diced Vegetable fried rice. Every rice was flaked and was flavorful. 7/10

Kung Pao Pepper Chilly – Made from large chunks of vegetables finished with cracked pepper. 7/10

Hot Gulab Jamun – Amazing Hot Gulab Jamun. Very soft from inside. 8/10

Lockup

The service was good overall with no complains in this department. The quality of the food just needs a bit of improvement.
