SodaBottleOpenerWala, DLF Cyber Hub, Gurgaon
The most fascinating things about SodaBottleOpernerWala is infact it’s name. The name is very close to the Parasi culture. The outlet is famous for its Parasi and Mumbai, snacks and drinks. The décor is very similar to the café’s in Mumbai. The seating arrangement is also unique with wooden chairs. The chance of being at SodaBottleOpenerWala was equally important. It was time to meet fellow foodies and food bloggers from around the city.
The event started with the Sekanji Bin, a drink made out of mint and dried plum. The drink had a good amount of grated plum which gave the otherwise lemony drink, a sweet taste. The presentation of this drink needs a special mention. The Vada Pav came next. The Vada was as it would be in Mumbai. The Vada Pav was served in aluminum plates, unique! The Pav was soft and fresh whereas the Vada was perfect. The chili made all the difference in this dish.
The Spicy Mushroom on Khari would just blow your mind. The soft khari would be topped with diced mushrooms and cheese and finished with just a pinch of spring onions. The taste were wonderful and the dish was divine. The Aloo Aunty’s Vegetable Cutlis was a aloo based cutlet serves with sweet tamarind chutney.
The Bombay Rasta Sandwich would definitely take you to the streets of Mumbai. This is a must try here. The Rasta Sandwich would definitely beat the Mamaji’s Grilled Sandwich in terms of taste. The Rasta Sandwich had veggies were as the Mamaji’s sandwich had the filling of potato. Both would be served with thin potato chips and chutney. Both the sandwiches were grilled to perfection.
The Raspberry Soda was so so. The drink was more of a slush consistency but had a lot of Raspberry puree. The appetizers ended with the Vengna No Patio, a unique Parasi preparation made out of Eggplants. The curry was served with soft buttery Pav. The curry was sweet as well as sour as well as tangy at the same time.
SodaBottleOpenerWala also sells a number of Irani Biscuits. The service at SBOW was great and the items carry a good value for money. A big thanks to all fellow foodies and Zomato, ofcourse!
