Get into the Wanderlust at ‘Café Wanderlust’

When you go to places like Cafe Wanderlust its not just about the food, but, the connection you make with the surroundings. May be a little hard to find, Cafe Wanderlust is at the back side of the Galleria Market, DLF Phase 4, Gurgaon. I almost lost my way 2 times while trying to find this place. But finally made it. The interesting point is that, its a travel cafe. People join together every few weeks to explore the unexplored.

Cafe Wanderlust

At first it may look like a typical cafe but they have different seats ranging from beam bags to easy chairs to other innovative seating arrangements. What is even more exciting are the walls and pictures all over the place. You may sense the detailing that went behind all this innovation. Comments from customers make it to a different section of the wall. The other walls are decorated with pictures of places visited by the people loyal to this cafe from Kashmir to Almora and places far far beyond. Sometimes you may find paper and color pens to draw and write not just about the cafe but anything. They even have a glass cardboard to do the same.

The cafe is filled with travel books like the Lonely planet series and novels. You can spend hours reading them or even going through them and no one would ever disturb you. Also the selection of music is outstanding from Kishore Da to Michael Jackson.

The use of technology is just remarkable. The menu is not printed but is available on an Tablet computer. The menu is very easy to navigate. Pictures of each item from the menu can be zoomed to see what exactly you get. The pictures very well resemble the food at the end. The most exciting part was to see that you can not only select the items you want to order on the tablet, but, also order them. The total bill just pops at the end of your order.

The range of Indian Delicacies is from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu and from Sikkim to Maharashtra. The owners of the cafe have picked one item from each of these states and added to their menu. The cafe is almost vegetarian. They serve different continental platters for breakfast. The food is not oily or spicy but reminded me of homely food.

Loved their Jodhpuri Mirchi Vada. The chilli was very spicy but was complimented with a sweet mango chutney. The green chutney was made from coriander leaves and garlic, perfect. The mirchi vada was huge and was enough for 2. The very soothing Kanpur’s Desi Adrak Chai was again superb. The sugar was perfect and the amount of Adrak was adequate.

I was always on a hurt for sweet crepes and finally I found a place. The Nutella and Banana Crepe was delicious and very filling. The crepe was complimented with wiped cream and sprinkled with Pomegranate seeds. What a great way to end your day! The lady owner and the chef in charge was kind enough to ask our honest opinion about the food and the place.

The only let down was the sound of the juicer in the kitchen which was quite loud. The service was a little laid back and needs slight improvement.
