The Biggest Loser

One of the biggest loser in the telecom industry, BSNL, the once monopolistic giant is close to ruins. The company has more than $25 billions in assets. But the last two years has shown huge loses for the company. What’s the answer behind the fact that when the entire telecom sector is growing, why is BSNL still inuring huge looses? The answer is ignorance and lack of leadership.

BSNL had a vision to connect entire nation with their flagship product, the fixed line phone or Landline. But since 2007, the fixed line phones has seen a decrease. Well the fall has been anticipated by many. Lack of any value added services on landline and mobility has decreased its concentration in urban as well as rural regions. But still products can be re-vamped and put back on track. All that is required is motivation. BSNL should try hard to get it’s flagship product back on track for the fact that though the people have turned more volatile; our home have still remain fixed and there is still usage for this product atleast for some part of the day.
